History
This locomotive was completed by Brush Traction at Loughborough in October 1963 and went new to Old Oak Common depot in West London as D1683, though less than a year later it was at Oxley Depot and spent the remainder of its career based in the West Midlands.
It was repainted from two-tone green to BR corporate blue in May 1971 and had its train heating boiler replaced with electric heating in 1973. It received its new TOPS number, 47485 in December 1973 and continued in service on both passenger and freight duties until withdrawal in October 1993.
It wasn’t scrapped until four years later, at Crewe Works.
