History

This locomotive was released to traffic in February 1965 as D6967 and was allocated to Tinsley Depot in Sheffield. It received its TOPS number, 37267, in May 1974 while allocated to Stratford Depot. After moving to Plymouth Laira, it was used on China Clay trains in the late 1970s before receiving modifications in 1985, including new Brush alternator and ETS (Electric Train Supply) as one of the ‘37/4’ subclass, renumbered 37421.

The entire ‘37/4’ subclass passed to Transrail Freight, one of three BR regional freight-operating companies prior to privatisation. After being stored by EWS in 2005, it was saved for preservation, but was one of four purchased by Colas Rail in 2013 for a return to the main line.
