In 1956, the travel agency of the GDR introduced a couchette train on the connection
from Dresden to Varna on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. On
initiative of the FDJ, the sleeper and couchette train "Tourist Express" (abbreviated to
"Tourist Express" (abbreviated to "TOUREX") was created and from the summer of
1963 as a special travel agency train. The "TOUREX" consisted of
